Victory Revolt in the Radio and B 52´s in St. George!
VR News Update, May 3, 09
Hello Friends, Dear Enemies,
Here's what I feel is worth sharing:
1. I'm excited to have received a full hour airtime on Jersey's legendary Freeform Radio station, WFMU. More precisely, I will be on air, Sunday, May 10, from 9-10pm, for the Acousmatic Theater Hour. That's at 91.1 fm in NYC and 90.1 fm in the Hudson Valley, or online at WFMU.org. I think they will play a few sound collages and narrative pieces, material that I've recorded when living in Berlin during the 90ies. I'll be in the studio and might get a chance to talk about that time, of which there's a lot of wacky stories to tell, and maybe get a chance to move towards present-day Staten Island.
2. The B52's are coming to our grand old vaudeville theater, right here in the St. George! The St. George Theater once was the second largest stage in NYC, right after Radio City Hall. It was built in the 20ies (I think) in a Rococo Revival style. It's been decaying for years but in the last years has been revived by a local non-for profit. We must give them credit that they got something going, even if the acts aren't always at the peak of their fame (Tony Bennett, Leslie Gore, Air Supply). But I think the B52's are a pretty big deal for our little neighborhood and I hope to see everybody out there on a classy Thursday night, coming through with love, in his or her best behavior and outfit. Please, no obscene body painting and no sweat pants with fur boots (and I mean the guys especially!). Let’s make them believe that that this is really one of the better parts of New York City!
3. Watch the
trailer for our upcoming show, "The Return of the Great Blue Heron 2.1" on May 30, Snug Harbor, VMH Playhouse. (www.noizart.com)
