Since March 2009:
Victory Revolt!
 |
Victory Revolt is Trish and Christoph
Trish and Christoph
is a musical duo that plays on a non regular basis on the North Shore
of Staten Island and occasionally in other parts of New York City or
the rest of the world for that matter.
In their performances, Victory Revolt
incorporates film and photo and addresses local problems and issues
such as urban underdevlopment, uncompetitive nightlife and feral
turkeys.
Performances by Victory Revolt are called the North Show. The North Show again is subdivided into individual episodes.
At times, Victory Revolt is joined by special guests and performers, thus becoming the Staten Island Freak Corps.
By the way, the band name Victory Revolt was selected by our dedicated groupies in an online poll. find out more:

We do not actually hope,
and we don't realistically anticipate, that the North Shore is going to
be the next Williamsburg*, though many folks says so. We're still
divided by Water and a pretty unattractive ferry schedule. Plus, DOT
and City employees are doing their best by yelling at tourists and
visitors: "Yoho, where you going? Get back on the boat, there's
nothing here!" (These were the actual words and sadly, they are not
all false)
However, thanks to the complete absence of any
cultural life and social meeting points our beloved north shore could
develop in a very unique manner, unspoiled by outside factors from the
big city, of which it technically is part of.
So we're taking
over the roll of the exploring scientist who looks through his magnifying
glasses at a still untouched urban ecosystem. There is pristine beauty and
ugliness to be discovered. Our logbooks are filled with song verses
and the test results are published through choruses on MP3 and wav files.
MOST
instruments that we play have been purchased in local thrift stores or simply been picked up from a north shore street corner. We record at home with low- and some higher end digital
and analog equipment.
Not all 4 Volumes are available yet. But we already play about 11 of the North Shore songs live!
*for
those that are not familiar with New York's boroughs and neighborhoods:
Williamsburg is a neighborhood in Brooklyn where many artist and trend
setting young people have moved since the early nineties. Streets
became safe, rents got up and artists got fucked, ... same ol' story.
|
Oh, and,
|
Victory Boulevard is one of the longest streets on Staten Island, spanning
over 10 miles all the way from North Shore at Bay Street (the area
named p.o.s.i.t.i.v.e. [part of Staten Island that is very ethnic] by
ETG's open mic MC Mark Davis) to more unknown parts of the Island in
the center west. Its northern part is the lifeline of numerous
immigrant communities and ethnic food stores from Mexico, various
African countries, Sri Lanka, the Caribbean, to name just a few. Great reason to go
out and support thy neighborhood!
